6 Months

I'll post plenty more updates later, but I wanted to make a special posting to mark my 6 months here in the city. WOOHOO! Can't believe it's already been half a year. Unbelievable.

Genna Eve

So begins my 23rd year! Had a wonderful Genna Eve tonight with my roommate. We commented how the best night turn out when you're not expecting anything. Ate sushi by the apartment. Delicious as always. Then walked a bit to grab a cab up to the bcbg store uptown. We had thought the store was at 58th and Broadway in Columbus square, but (15 minutes before closing, mind you) we realize we were 11 block off. So we march up as fast as we can walk. along the way, we found some pretty nice sights:

Hotel Empire! Hey Chuck Bass!

Can you recognize what that is??

Lincoln Square of course & the new York ballet. What a beauty.
While my roommate stops to tame this picture, I press on because I want to make it to bcbg before the store closes. As she's running to catch up with me, I catch my 5th or 6th? celeb spotting. Owner of American Apparel, a very imfamous character for multiple reasons, is passing by and inappropriately staring at her run, turns around and continues to stare at her. TYPICAL. He had those thin rimmed big glasses on, super 80s creepin style.

Anyway, so we make it to the store. I grab the dress that I needed to try on to order in the correct size, and boom I'm outa there. Got me a dress to Morgan & Laurens rehearsal dinner!

Ashley and I decide to stroll back to our apartment in Murray hill from around Lincoln Center. Google it. It took awhile. Grabbed some ice cream for the road of course. We walked past some pretty fun stuff. Walked down 5th ave, which of course was an entire experience in itself even though all these stores were closed. Check on a few of the pictures we grabbed:

...and one of those little refrigerators that you open with a key... Whos got it? What movie/what building is this?

Another one for you to guess...

And another?

Alright easy one- where am I standing?

Last but not least, my birthday banner that mom and pop sent up for me that my rooms hung up in my window. Notice the vase with the flowers that I referenced last night...

ok Now it's 2 hours past my bed time. Much get my birthday rest.

Love!!

Can't...Stop...Cleaning....

Once you've started, you just can't stop. At first I was just cleaning up a few things around my room, and the next thing I know I've rearranged furniture, swiffered floors, wiped down counters, wash dishes, empty the dishwasher... Most of you wouldn't even recognize me right now, seriously! I'll save the bathroom/toilet for another day. I bought some flowers yesterday for my room, and using the glass milk bottle that Johnny and Lucy Long bought me while they were in town - looks like a got myself a vase. And it's sitting right next to my picture of Owen beside my bed - smiles. Also just turned my blow up bed into a couch/futon/kitchen table/closet space. But really it's a queen size blow up bed and I turned it longways against the wall, put a fitted sheet on it, and threw a comforter on top. Its a pretty enticing deal for whoever comes to visit this summer.  My room almost looks like a REAL room now! Lovely. Now I just need to figure out a curtain situation - my balcony door is connected to my window so it makes for an awkward angle to hang curtain. Hmmm.....

Made some grilled chicken tonight, pretty simple stuff. I haven't been eating starches for the past 1.5 weeks (eternity). It's like there are no other options out there. I'm trying to make it till Wednesday, my birthday, though I don't even think cutting starches out has done one thing. Maybe it takes longer than a week and a half to start losing weight, but I guess I've just had it way too easy in the past. 23 is all too much a reality right now. When I told my friend Henry earlier that I didn't want to turn 23, he says, "why, it's great!" His "argument" was that 23 sounds so much older and you get more respect. My response (and all I heard out of that statement) was that I just sound older because I'm old now. Ah - I should stop my complaints because 23 is still very young. And there's no other holiday I love more than my birthday. I'm kidding, sort of. Mom sent me up a Happy Birthday banner to hang it my room. My roommate said to leave it in her room and she'd hang it because there's no way I can hang my other birthday banner.

Wow, I wrote a lot tonight. Oh, and one more thing. A friend promised me that if I gave him a shout out on here he'd finally follow me. So here it is
My first Peace Love Chi O date, Drew Plunk
Please take note of the Jessica Simpson poster hanging in Drew and Morgan's room from that year.

Annnnd another one - Destin '08

There ya go, Rew. Now you better follow through.

Night, folks. Happy Genna Eve Eve.

Back

Hi all - No, no. I have not given up writing. Just a little break to clear my head, and refocus. It's been a rather slow month so far, but I am back.

I want to thank all of you who have been so loving and encouraging to me in the past few weeks/few months. Calls, texts, letters, packages... I feel so blessed to have such an amazing support system.

Tim Keller spoke tonight at Redeemer about the Wisdom of God. How are we to attain it? When you have decisions ahead of you that aren't simply right or wrong, how are we to attain the wisdom to make the best choices? And when we are struggling, remembering that God has a full view of this universe. So relying on Him and trusting in Him even during our hardships: how? By fearing him. Not z scared fear, but fear as in being completely reverent and in awe of who He is and what He has done. By simply being still. Be still.

That sermon really spoke to where I am right now. 3 days away from turning 23, and pressing on to seek that wisdom.

Apologies for coming back with such a serious note, but I thought I would share what is on my heart.

Love you all, and I promise tomorrow's post will be much more bright!

Where were you?

Let's get back to Thursday. Skip ahead if you'd like to hear about my where were you when you heard the news.

Yankees game with Ali, Logan, Jonas, and one of his friends. Ali and I agreed we've got to try to make this a twice a month thing because it was such a blast. Only 6 stops on the 4 train uptown, then you hope right off in front of Yank Stadium. Such a fun memory.

The next pic is of my Christmas presents from Santa for when my over the weekend guests come. If you're planning on coming up and staying with me get excited:

Queen size off the floor most comfortable blow up mattress in the world

Amanda and Nathan were my next visitors! We went out for some delicious food with Ali, Logan, and her rooms Jess. So delicious.

Saturday we had brunch and walked around in TriBeCa then shopped all around the area. Had dinner at Smith & Mills. Best meal of the Weekend. Hands down. Those burgers (very burgers) were stupid good. If you to go to one nice restaurant while here, id pick this place. Quaint space, unique decorations, food was spectacular. Oh and the waitress asked if we heard of the place from Jesse and Nathan, and we said, "you mean Jared and Nathan? As in kings of Leon?!" She said that is their favorite restaurant and they come in all the time because they live right around the corner. Highlight of our Weekend of sure.

Sunday we had a nice brunch at a place Diana recommended to me which was also fantastic. We shopped off union square on fifth avenue. I had to have Amanda remove me from the free people store because it was overwhelming how much we wanted to buy. Can somebody say...bday ideas...??? It is officially my birthday month now!! I can't believe I've already been here four months as of tomorrow. It has passed by so quickly. As we headed back to pack Amanda up to leave, I noticed a paparazzi standing in front of the Ganzevoort. I told Amanda and Nate we should wait around SMS see who he is waiting to snap a picture of, and who else but Christina Aguillera. The cheesier the celeb, the better sighting, I'd say. Amanda and Nathan hated our celebrity spotting as they wanted to see someone better ha, but I laughed pretty hard at it as I thought it was pretty hysterical!! Not every day you get to see someone like that, even if it's not the Kings of Leon themselves.

Who can name this car?

we were shopping for our future (way future) mini men babies (i was just going to say mini men, but I thought id be more clear just to not cause any confusion) in the baby section at all saints.

Da delancey bruddas! What movie?

Madison Square park. Can anyone explain why this giant human head is in the middle of the lawn? And those people aren't dead they're just resting on a nice day...at least I hope so

And how could we forget amanda's super lovely shot of her face that she put on my phone background (still there). Creep or beautiful? Creepily beautiful. Or beautifully creepy. You pick Amanda.

Now getting back to the weekend. And where in was when I heard the news. After Amanda left, I soon hopped in bed to get me a full nights sleep. My roommate Ashley came in and woke me up about two hours after and told me the news. She told me there had been a leak from somewhere in Washington and that Obama was about to make an address. I wish I'd been more awake to hear it, but I did think Obama did a nice delivery. I'd rather not start getting political as this blog is not about pushing any buttons, but I am so proud of our country, our President, and those heroes of yesterday, some might be named and many many more not. But thank you all so much for the years of work dedication to bringing Osama to justice. We must not neglect to acknowledge the people who dedicate their lives to doing these behind the scenes jobs, because you'll never see them on CNN, but they are what makes this happen. It does not seem right celebrating a human beings death, but to know the victims of all the lives lost have closure and see justice is a beautiful thing.

Many hearts and Happy Genna Month. (sorry if it's your birthday in may too, it's just what I call it!) I'll be counting down the days to my birthday...

Countdown to my Birthday:

23 DAYS

Oh and this super long post is for you pop. Love y'all.
